The Brazil French Press coffee maker, designed in the early 80's, was our first coffee maker and quickly became a symbol of what Bodum stands for. I brought the glass version with me on a deployment to Iraq. 4 30-40 year old SNCOs became increasingly dependent on the daily buzz provided by the amazing coffee this thing produced. Then one day one of our young guys was yanking on the gun rack we used as a coffee bar like he was a freaking gorilla and knocked it off. We thought about throwing him over the fence and we told him we would consider it more and more as the coffee-less days went on. He ordered the plasic shatter proof version (probably to be a smart@ass) and when it showed up we were pretty mad. I thought the plastic would make the coffee taste funny--wrong. This thing really works fantastically AND it's shatter-proof! He's still not allowed in the office, but if he was he would see 4 30-40 year old SNCOs happily chugging coffee.
I use one of those hot-water-heater-pitcher-things and stir the coffee as I pour the water in. I leave it for about 4 minutes and pour a little bit into each cup until it's empty.

I consider myself to be very careful with glass, but I broke the glass press I used daily by pouring hot water in it like I had done many times before; always used a spoon to absorb the first shock of hot water (not boiling) I think the glass ones are good for so many uses and then they crack. I also like the pour through strainer molded into the lid of this press. It catches any grounds that may get by the bottom strainer. Instruction say to use coarse grind. I get by with a big bag of regular grind that I get at the hundred dollar club; stir it one more time before pressing. Makes it easier to depress the plunger. I use it to fill my Thermos Bottle which is one Liter. The shatterproof beaker is one liter, but this is a little misleading since it won't quite make one liter of coffee; must top off with hot water.

Background: I have had some experience with coffee makers - I used the Mr. Coffee TF5 4-Cup Switch Coffeemaker, Black for a while, then the Mr. Coffee CG12 12-Cup Switch Coffeemaker, White, as well as an older, double-walled insulated version of a Bodum french press and a Nespresso CitiZ C110 Espresso Maker, Red.
I honestly wasn't expecting much from this french press. It looks cheap and simple, and there's no double-insulation. However, I was blown away for two reasons: 1) even with an inconsistent grind thanks to my blade grinder, none of the grinds seeped into my coffee and 2) my coffee had a fricking crema on top, one that was completely MIA with my 12-cup drip coffeemaker.
The only drawback is that I sensed an edge of bitterness to my coffee that wasn't present with my drip filtered coffee. I expected the glass to not insulate very well, but it did a decent job.
Overall, very pleased.
